Reached your blog from the link on the Canon Camera (Malaysia) Fb group, just thought I'd leave a message. Don't worry, despite them choosing your 'fun' entry your other pictures have proven yourself to be a good photographer! Even the greatest of artists have their critics, don't get too down on anything said about that pic =)

Yup, agreed with both of them. Don't think Canon is choosing that picture to embarrass you. Think another way, if Canon were to embarrass you that way, it is not even beneficial to Canon. People out there will just laugh at Canon. Canon selected that picture, then there must be a reason why they've selected it. And the reason, does not mean they have to get approval from anyone else. It's just like a photo contest, once you have the final result, there will be no changes no matter what you say, right?

and the embarrassment stands where
there are many much more pro photogs there
that submitted photos for them
and many must have look like "hey what the heck ?"

So Canon like this photo. The octopus is cute. So they rather choose your photo than the other thousands of submissions. If you are embarrassed about that photo, why submit it in the first place? Everyone bounds to criticise, whether be it good or bad.
ReplyDeleteIt IS a good picture. Some likes it, some don't. Everyone has his or her opinion. Well, I like it! My sister likes it! My friends like it! :)
Just be careful of your choices when you submit, for many people takes this competition seriously, especially when it's featured to thousands and thousands of people. So don't just simply submit this photo because you LIKE it. I don't mean to be offending you. Just pointing this out since you feel so ashamed of Canon choosing that as their profile picture...
